Mobile Phone Review : Samsung SGH-P310

Like its predecessor, the SGH-P300, the SGH-P310 bears the same calculator look and isn't very exciting as an upgrade model. Issues such as the odd keypad layout and lack of an external memory card slot on the P300 have been brought over to the current model. That said, the P310 is not without its merits, and for its size is packed with a decent feature set. But at S$698 (US$444.08) (with a two-year contact when it was first available), this phone isn't for everyone. .

Mobius Amsterdam 2007: Opening reception and disclosure

Last month Microsoft invited me and 21 others to the annual Mobius event where we ave the opportunity to provide feedback on the Windows Mobile platform, exchange ideas with other enthusiasts, and see some future plans for Windows Mobile. This year the event is being held in Amsterdam and I arrived this morning. I slept a bit to catch up on some sleep, but may have a tough time going to bed at a reasonable hour (it is actually 1 am right now). The first event was an informal gathering for drinks, snacks, and introductions.

Nine of the 23 attendees this year are new to the Mobius group. The attendees and their sites are listed below:

Rafe Blandford, All About Symbian Paul O'Brien, MoDaCo.com Nghia Nguyen, PDA France Arne Hess, The Unwired Guido Bonati, SoloPalmari.com Remo Knops, Pocketinfo.nl Eldar Murtazin, Mobile Review Philip Berne, InfoSync World Shane Chiang, PPCSG.com Paul Matt, Phone Daily.com Jenneth Orantia, Roam Magazine and Gear Diary Andrew Shuttleworth, Windows Mobile in Japan Atushi Koyanagi, HTC Fan Mauricio Freitas, GeekZone Matt Miller, ZDNet Mobile Gadgeteer Ryan Block, Engadget Jason Dunn, Pocket PC Thoughts Michael Oryl, Mobile Burn Judie Lipsett, Gear Diary Eric Lin, PhoneScoop Vincent Nguyen, Slash Phone Dieter Bohn, WM Experts

It was great, as always, to meet new friends and talk with old friends at the reception.

Hank and Tex in the house

Sure, they could have them in Atlanta, but abundant sunshine, golf and private jets make this quick trip south a pretty attractive option for a meeting space.

Teixeira is signing autographs as I write this, as about half of the fans in attendance at this morning workout scrambled for a place in line next to the dugout as soon as they saw the first baseman emerge.

Anyway, there's no update whatsoever on a possible Teixeira contract extension. Braves aren't talking about it, and neither is agent Scott Boras. And by the way, Teixeira laughed when I asked him about the rumored rift between him and Boras.

"Scott and I have a great relationship," he said. "We talk about once a week."

And one other thing: Teixeira is not building a house in Atlanta.

Tech toys for the holidays

So if you're playing Wii tennis, for instance, you stand up and swing the controller as though you were holding a tennis racket. Your strokes determine how your on-screen character swings - and the effect is remarkably life-like. You can play against the Wii console or against another person - and the standard games delivered with Wii are both fun and varied.

Easy grip digital camera

There's little doubt that taking pictures can be fun, even for kids. But for kids under 10, regular digital cameras can be too difficult to use - and too fragile. That's why a number of companies have recently focused on creating rugged, easy-to-use, and easy-to- handle digital cameras. The results are surprisingly good.

Digital Concepts' Crayola VGA camera, for instance, is made of tough plastic and has two big handles that allow kids to hold up the camera to frame images on the 1.3-inch preview screen.
